David Kohl is an international trade cross-cultural specialist with a mission to identify and realize global opportunities for individuals and organizations. David's extensive international network and deep experience working with fortune 500 companies, top-ranked universities and government agencies around the world provide his clients with a unique set of resources and opportunities that create a distinct advantage in a dynamic and competitive world. David's clients have included The Embassy of the United States of America in Beijing, Nike, Intel, Logitech, Portland International Airport, as well as many others.


David is a federally appointed member of the District Export Council of Oregon and also serves as State International Trade Liaison for the Oregon SBDC Network. David is a NASBITE Certified Global Business professional (CGBP).


David holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of Oregon, a Master of International Management (MIM) from Portland State University and has also earned diplomas from Beijing Language and Culture University as well as the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China.

Tammy Marquez-Oldham

Tammy Marquez-Oldham brings 30 years experience in the education, healthcare, software, and food industry to the clients she serves in her capacity at Portland Community College. She has owned several businesses and hired, trained and developed hundreds of employees. She has experience in building business domestically and internationally, impacting over 2000 clients over the past ten years.

At the Small Business Development Center at CLIMB Center for Advancement Portland Community College, Tammy leads the vision of providing the highest level of business education and advising possible. As Director, Tammy inspires performance of staff and clients; producing net new jobs, accessing capital and achieving new sales. Tammy is founder of the Center for Excellence in Entrepreneurship at the Small Business Development Center and has been a member of the Economic Gardening Initiative since its inception.

With a Bachelors degree in Human Development and a Masters in Business from George Fox University, Tammy brings a unique and holistic approach to her work as Director at the Small Business Development Center, CLIMB Center for Advancement, Portland Community College.

As a business leader in the 21st Century I believe I have a social responsibility to transfer the knowledge acquired during my 30 year journey through the world of business, education, and entrepreneurship. This experience has given me the unique ability to get to the "heart of the matter” and help my clients in a variety of ways. Through my work I educate, inspire, and transform my client’s needs into solutions.


Tekle Sebhatu, Ph.D.

STC International


 Tekle Sebhatu, Ph.D., M.B.A., Certified Online Instructor (COI) is Principal of STC International that offers Online Export Import Practices courses and international business development services. He has over 23 years of domestic and international business experiences. Started as an entrepreneur has consulted and trained Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) for the Bay Area World Trade Center, BAYTRADE (an export promotion organization), SBDC/CITD and other organizations.

He has written several export import articles for trade websites, a newspaper, Chamber of Commerce and presented numerous export/import-related workshops to businesses and entrepreneurs. Tekle, has created online International Business courses for higher education institutions and companies using Course Management System (CMS) including, Moodle, Angel and proprietary CMSs.

Currently, in addition to managing STC International, he is an adjunct professor at Strayer University Online and teaches part time online International Business course at Portland Community College (PCC) and Umpqua Community College (UCC). His previous teaching experiences include Import/Export Trade Operations and other international business courses at the University of California at Berkeley Extension, Georgetown University, Continuing Education in Washington, DC, and for the Africa Virtual University (AVU)—a World Bank project in Washington DC. Tekle, has travelled for business to Asia, Africa and Europe. He is a volunteer in export and import at SCORE Portland Oregon Chapter.
