Ray Bowman has been involved in the
operational aspects of international trade and logistics for over 29 years.
Currently, Mr. Bowman is the Director for the Ventura and Santa Barbara Small
Business Development Center, which provides business consultation services to
over 500 businesses per year at no cost. Mr. Bowman has held key management
positions with some of the world’s largest freight and logistics companies
and has been involved in consulting and teaching for over 14 years. Mr.
Bowman also serves as Program Chair for the District Export Council of
Southern California by Appointment of the U.S. Secretary of Commerce. Mr.
Bowman conducts training courses for businesses through the Centers for
International Trade Development (CITD), Small Business Development Centers
(SBDC), The Alameda Corridor Jobs Training Coalition, Fashion Business Inc.
and the U.S. Department of Commerce. Mr. Bowman is also teaches courses in
international logistics, trade finance, and import export for Santa Barbara
City College and California Lutheran University. Ray Bowman is also the
author of a book called Quick Start Guide, International Trade. Mr. Bowman is
also a Certified Global Business Professional CGBP as well as a NASBITE
Certified CGBP trainer. Mr. Bowman has also published a number of journal
articles as well as been a key note speaker on the subject of international
trade and logistics.
Madeline Grant has been teaching
International Business and Marketing at Santa Ana College for more than 25
years and is the Department Chair of the Global Business &
Entrepreneurship department. In addition to teaching she is working to
develop an internship program and international business career pathways for
students in K-12 and community colleges in California. She was instrumental
in aligning the SAC International Business curriculum with the CGBP Practice
Delineation which was the foundation for becoming an Accredited CGBP Training
Madeline spent approximately 20
years working for small and medium size manufacturing companies that produced
scuba gear, home fragrance products, women’s fashion and cosmetics. She spent
her career in industry working as an export coordinator, import manager, and
director of international markets. Her hands on experience in exporting and
importing/ sales and marketing provided the opportunity for her to travel
throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, India, Canada, Mexico, South America,
Australia & New Zealand.
Madeline earned her MBA from the
Claremont Graduate Schools and her Bachelor’s degree in International
Relations and Business from the University of San Diego.
Gabriel Shweiri is President and
CEO of BGI Worldwide Logistics. A global logistics and transportation
provider that he established in 1999. His professional career began directly
out of graduate school working for one of the largest US based freight forwarding
companies. After taking positions with several companies during a volatile
M&A period in the industry, Gabriel gained extensive experience in global
management as well as startup operations. His experience took him through
sales, operations, technology, accounting, management and marketing as well
as the functional areas of import, export, surface, air and ocean logistics.
Gabriel has extensive travel experience in North America, Europe, Asia and
the South Pacific, traveling to coordinate global operations and negotiate
Gabriel has been teaching
International Business and Marketing at Santa Ana College for more than 15
years in the Global Business and Entrepreneurship department. He has taught
International Business, Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship classes.
He was part of the advisory board for the SAC International Business degree
and certificate programs. He is a certified CGBP and a certified CGBP trainer
at Santa Ana College’s training program.
Gabriel earned his MIM from Thunderbird
and his Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from the George Washington
University in Washington, DC.
