Hot Topics Roundtable Discussion

Idea Share: Trends Fest
There are constant challenges, pressures and opportunities that present themselves in the world of international trade. From SBDCs and DECs, to academic institutions, while the names and organizations may change, many of the same opportunities and challenges co-exist. Among  those challenges are:  changing consumer expectations, new technology, social media marketing, economic demands, grant funding, legal issues within international trade. Conference educators and fellow participants in lively discussions focused on success stories, ideas and roadblocks to change. Table tents will identify a variety of topics participants will discuss throughout the session.

Localizing the National Export Initiative

President Obama announced the National Export Initiative in January 2010. The NEI has made small business participation in exporting a top national priority, changed the culture of the Small Business Administration, and helped create an army of export counseling expertise within the ranks of the Small Business Development Centers. Join the discussion on National Client Referral Protocol and take advantage of this opportunity to share your thoughts and experience with the Federal Government's Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee. This is both a presentation and conversation. Listen in or chime in! You never know. You may be able to influence the coordinated efforts of the inter-agency TPCC Small Business Working Group.

UMSL Chancellor's Certificate in International Trade - Lessons in Online & CGBP Training

The University of Missouri St. Louis' Chancellor's Certificate in International Trade has been offered since 2004 and leverages a highly successful partnership with the World Trade Center St. Louis. Recently, we migrated the course to an online format which has been an interesting and successful project. We also have added an additional CGBP Exam Prep module to the certificate. This workshop will discuss the issues and learning from both the migration to online and integration of the CGBP. We will discuss specific pedagogical issues such as use of our Learning Management Software, integration of multimedia, instructor selection and training, CGBP-specific challenges, and marketing.
