Once you become a Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP), you will be required to maintain your credential over a five year cycle through continuing education activities. Recertification enhances professional development and sustains the value of the CGBP credential by encouraging and recognizing learning and offering mechanisms to attain professional development.
Guidelines and FAQ
Why do I have to be recertified?
As with many professional certifications and
licensures, continuing education is a key component to keeping abreast of current
trends, best practices and updates in your field. The inclusion of a
recertification requirement serves to elevate and protect the value of your
credential by demonstrating a high level of expertise and current knowledge.
What is the cost of rectification?
The annual processing fee to maintain your
CGBP credential is $50.
How
long is the recertification cycle?
The CGBP recertification cycle is five years.
Credential holders are required to obtain CPE credits in a minimum of four out
of the five years in the cycle.
What
are recertification credits called?
CGBP recertification credits will be referred
to as CPE or Continuing Professional Education credits.
How
many CPEs are required?
CGBPs are required to obtain 40 CPEs per five
year recertification cycle. Attendance and/or participation in approved CPE activities will generally be counted at a 1 to 1 ratio. For example, attendance at a two hour export compliance workshop presented by an International Trade Assistance Center will be credited two CPEs.
When
does my recertification cycle begin?
Holders of credentials earned prior to
December 31, 2012 will begin the recertification cycle on January 1, 2013.
Those earning the CGBP credential after
December 31, 2012 will begin the 5 year recertification cycle on the date your
credential is awarded.
How do I know if a program I have attended or
plan to attend will count for CPEs?
Generally, if the program covers any of the
four CGBP domains (Global Business Management, Global Marketing, Supply Chain
Management, or Trade Finance) and is sponsored or presented by a legitimate
government agency, credit will be given. The best way to ensure credit for
participating in programs, is to attend pre-approved programs.
